The start of a new year often comes with big goals: get organized, eat better, move more, do all the things. For family caregivers, those resolutions can feel like just another responsibility added to an already full plate.
So what if this year, the resolution was simpler… and more supportive?
What if your New Year’s resolution was to stop doing caregiving alone?
Caregiving Was Never Meant to Be a Solo Act
If you’re caring for a parent, partner, child, sibling, or friend, you already know how isolating caregiving can feel. Even when you’re surrounded by people, it can seem like no one quite understands what your day-to-day reality looks like.
Caregiver support isn’t about fixing everything. It’s about having a place where you can:
- Say the hard things out loud
- Learn from others who’ve been there
- Feel less alone in the messiness
- Take a breath without having to explain yourself
Making caregiver support part of your routine is one of the most sustainable things you can do for yourself… and for the people you care for.
What Caregiver Support Can Look Like at Sandwiched KC
At Sandwiched KC, our mission is to create opportunities for family caregivers to find local support and shared wisdom. That means offering different ways to connect, based on your schedule, stage of life, and comfort level.
Here’s what support can look like in the new year:
Weekly Virtual Caregiver Support Groups
Our virtual groups meet on Zoom and are open to family caregivers at any stage. Come as you are — camera on or off, talkative or quiet, overwhelmed or just curious.
- Thursdays at 8:00pm
- Fridays at 10:00am
These groups are a consistent space to check in, share what’s been weighing on you, and hear from others who get it.
In-Person Caregiver Support Groups at Turning Point
Sometimes it helps to sit in the same room with people who understand. Our in-person caregiver support groups at Turning Point offer connection, conversation, and community… without pressure to have the “right” words.
If you’ve been craving face-to-face connection, this can be a powerful way to remind yourself you’re not alone.

Introducing 40 Below: Support for Caregivers Under 40
Caregiving at a younger age comes with its own challenges — balancing careers, raising kids, managing finances, or feeling out of sync with peers who aren’t in the same place.
40 Below is our newest virtual caregiver support group created specifically for family caregivers under 40. It’s a space to talk about the unique realities of caregiving earlier in life, connect with others who understand, and feel less isolated in the process.
You don’t have to explain why your life looks different. Everyone already gets it.
A Resolution That Makes Room for You
Caregivers are often great at showing up for everyone else… and not so great at showing up for themselves. Choosing caregiver support as your New Year’s resolution isn’t indulgent or selfish. It’s practical. It’s protective. And it’s necessary.
You don’t have to attend every group. You don’t have to share every time. You don’t have to commit perfectly.
Just start by showing up.
This year, let support be part of how you care… for yourself, too.
If you’re ready to join a group or want to learn more, we’d love to welcome you.
