To kick off National Family Caregivers Month, Sandwiched KC, along with the help of numerous volunteers, hosted its first conference for caregivers in the Kansas City metro on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Nearly 50 family caregivers from all walks of life attended to network, learn about topics in aging and caregiving, and meet with companies and community resources.
The conference featured keynote speakers and special presentations from the following
- Tina Parsley Hughes – Managing Attorney, Lighthouse Legal, LLC
- The Burney Sisters
- Novella Perrin Ph.D. – Retired Professor of Gerontology, University of Central Missouri
- Deborah Shouse and Ron Zoglin – Co-Founders Dementia Friendly Kansas City, Dementia Advocates, Writers, and Speakers
Lunch and juice were provided by Ruby Jean’s Juicery.
The conference was sponsored by AARP Missouri and Mid-America Regional Council Aging & Adult Services.
