{"id":26076,"date":"2023-10-31T13:43:48","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T18:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandwichedkc.com\/?p=26076"},"modified":"2023-10-31T13:44:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T18:44:23","slug":"november-is-national-family-caregivers-month-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandwichedkc.com\/es\/november-is-national-family-caregivers-month-2\/","title":{"rendered":"November is National Family Caregivers Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re stoked to celebrate National Family Caregivers Month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year in November, our nation recognizes the contributions and sacrifices that family caregivers, the long term care system of America, make each day in order to care for their loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the 2020 Report, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caregiving.org\/research\/caregiving-in-the-us\/caregiving-in-the-us-2020\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.caregiving.org\/research\/caregiving-in-the-us\/caregiving-in-the-us-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caregiving in the US<\/a>, 20% of Americans (or 53 million people) provide care for an adult family member who needs support in the United States.<sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0In the greater Kansas City area, there are estimated to be nearly 500,000 family caregivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Care provided by millions of unpaid family caregivers across the U.S. was valued at $600 billion in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/ppi\/info-2015\/valuing-the-invaluable-2015-update.html\">a recent report<\/a><sup>2<\/sup> from AARP estimates, a $130 billion increase in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/caregiving\/financial-legal\/info-2019\/family-caregiver-contribution-study.html\">unpaid contributions from the 2019 report<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caregiving is universal.\u00a0 Many people are balancing being parents and caring for aging loved ones or loved ones with a disability, spending an estimated 13 days each month helping with things like shopping, food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and giving medication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year&#8217;s theme is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caregiveraction.org\/caregiversconnect\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.caregiveraction.org\/caregiversconnect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caregivers Connect<\/a><\/strong>, a theme we can really get behind here at Sandwiched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve been busy building a supportive community for ALL family caregivers in the KC metro.
